Hazard Assessment and Control:

A hazard is a condition or practice with potential for injury to people, equipment, materials, property or the environment. All workplaces have certain types of hazards associated with the work they conduct. Many businesses are not fully aware of all of their legal responsibilities until a serious injury has occurred and an investigation has been initiated by an Occupational Health and Safety Officer.

A Hazard Assessment and Control Program must be in compliance with all provincial, territorial, and federal regulations.

Hazard Assessment: A detailed written assessment of all existing and potential workplace hazards that have been identified, controlled, documented and communicated to all affected workers. Also sometimes referred to as a Job or Task Hazard Assessment/Analysis.
